The Santa Rosa West End Neighborhood

Nearly smack-dab in the heart of Sonoma County’s wine country lies the city of Santa Rosa, California. Nestled in the Russian River Valley, you can find almost anything in the burgeoning downtown of Santa Rosa. On the West End of Highway 101, a cherished facet of the One Hundred-and-Ninety-year-old city hustles and bustles with restaurants, antique shops, coffeehouses, art galleries, farmer’s markets, wine tasting, breweries and much more.

Historic Railroad Square and the Santa Rosa West End is a community composed of many walks of life. The West End Neighborhood fosters free thinking, the arts, and diverse culture. We embody the ideal that contemporary urban developers strive to actualize: a compact, downtown district brimming with local businesses that are a mere stroll away, no vehicle necessary. Our nostalgic approach to everyday life has once again found its place in the limelight.

Here in the West End, our inhabitants consistently engage in enjoyable community activities. These range from inaugurating art exhibitions, summer bocce tournaments, and picnics, to historical walking tours and initiatives to improve the local environment.

We invite you to take a few minutes to navigate our Santa Rosa West End Neighborhood Association’s website and discover why our little neighborhood holds a special place in our hearts. West End is a vibrant blend of urban living, preservation, art, and a community spirit that thrives together.

SANTA ROSA WEST END’S LITTLE STORY

The Santa Rosa West End Neighborhood Association’s history of gathering for various causes extends back to the 1970s, with formal recognition as an Association arriving in 1984. Our goal is to express neighborhood views to the City of Santa Rosa on developments, crime deterrence, road conditions, lighting, preservation, and rejuvenation of the area. We collaborated with the Santa Rosa Police Department on Neighborhood Oriented Policing, including a neighborhood watch. We played a key role in prohibiting alcohol in local parks. The association also diligently works to ensure quality rental management by maintaining close relationships with property owners.

The West End Neighborhood Association convenes twice annually for general meetings on the third Thursday of March and November at 7 p.m. These gatherings take place at the Arlene Francis Center for Spirit, Art, and Politics, at 99 Sixth Street, unless otherwise indicated. Additional meetings are scheduled as necessary.

Our yearly Bicycle Parade and BBQ, dubbed, “The DeMeo Bonanza Day“, takes place at DeMeo Park on the fourth Saturday of July.

The Santa Rosa West End Neighborhood Association graciously provides hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks for these events. We encourage our neighbors that attend to contribute their favorite potluck dishes for communal enjoyment.

You can access the West End Neighborhood News, published thrice a year, on our website.

The West End Neighborhood Association’s events, meetings, and newsletters are financially supported through annual contributions and sponsorship from our Newsletter and Website patrons. Any help you can give makes a very large impact on the success of our little story.
